Senior Safety Engineer

What We Need Senior Safety Engineer’s main role is to facilitate the rollout and execution of safety protocols, standards, and programs at the Brady Florist Plant. This position involves managing several key areas, including training, continuous improvement, risk assessment, and the investigation of workplace accidents. What You’ll Be Doing Responsible for knowledge, understanding and application of national, state and local safety and OSHA regulations, ensuring full compliance. Owns, coordinates, improves and supports campus wide safety programs and training. Oversees the Hazardous Area Management program. Develops, implements and maintains risk management programs, including Management of Change (MOC), Chemical Safety, Hazard Communication, Electrical Safety, LOTO, Confined Space, Hazardous Waste, Guarding, Safety Controls, Contractor Safety, Emergency Response, Ergonomics, Static Control, Safe Work Rules, etc. Presents to and/or trains the organization on relevant safety topics. Responsible for maintaining clear and accurate safety records and documentation. Conducts and coordinates accident investigations and effective root cause analysis. Routinely reviews, improves, approves and maintains updated safety procedures. Audits environmental and safety programs internally and occasionally across sites. Engages all shifts and communicates routinely. Leads emergency response team. Participates in reviewing and approving safe design for new equipment expenditures. Provides cross support for Environmental and Industrial Hygiene engineering. Performs other duties as assigned. What You Will Need to Be Successful Bachelor degree in Environmental Sciences, Occupational Safety, Sustainability, Industrial Hygiene or a related engineering discipline. Minimum 3 years of direct safety management experience and 5 years of direct EH&S multi-plant experience. Thorough understanding and experience of RCRA hazardous waste regulations. Understands regulations applicable to a site and implement cost effective compliance processes. Strong verbal, written communication and presentation skills. Must be able to influence others. High level of attention to detail and quality. Works well in a multi-tasked, team oriented management environment. Ability to develop technical solutions to complex problems. Ability to function in a project/program leadership role. Previous experience with safe handling of solvents, solvent based waste and VOCs is preferred. Process Safety Management (PSM). Experience and interest in expanding into environmental, industrial hygiene and compliance management. Professional certification such as CHMM, CSM-WSO, or CSP is preferred, but not required. Familiarity with ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO12100, ISO13849 certifications is preferred, but not required. Experience with manufacturing operations and lean manufacturing principles.
