RN Advisor (Triage RN)

Radiation therapy is an integral part of the comprehensive cancer care that we provide at Moffitt Cancer Center. Designed to help kill cancerous cells, shrink tumors and alleviate symptoms, radiation-based treatments are used in the management of many different types and stages of cancer. While radiation therapy relies heavily on advanced machines and new technologies, even more important are the oncologists who provide it. Even the best equipment must be placed in more-than-capable hands to be exceptionally effective. Patients in Moffitt's Radiation Oncology Program receive care from a multispecialty radiation oncology team. Many of our radiation oncologists specialize in treating just one or two specific cancers. That means that patients will work with oncologists who understand the unique challenges of their situation.

Moffitt's Radiation Oncology Program is accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR). To obtain this accreditation, we completed a rigorous review process that ensured proper training and certification for our staff members, making them exceptionally qualified to perform and administer radiation treatments. Additionally, our radiation therapy equipment was found to meet or exceed the quality assurance and safety guidelines established by the ACR. Our Radiation Oncology Clinic cares for 110-180 patients on a daily basis, depending on the location. We are currently looking for an RN Advisor (Triage RN) to join our team.

The RN Advisor for the Radiation Oncology Clinic provides care at the following locations:

• McKinley Outpatient Service Center, near Busch Gardens
• Moffitt Cancer Center at the University of South Florida campus

The RN Advisor uses the nursing process to effectively plan and manage patient care by providing individualized, quality nursing care to cancer patients and family members over the phone, in accordance with established Cancer Center guidelines, nursing care standards, and Moffitt Clinic policies. Using the concepts of Duffy's Quality Caring Model, the RN Advisor ensures calls are answered promptly and accurately while assessing patient's urgent signs and symptoms. The RN Advisor provides nursing interventions, acts as a liaison with the clinical team and documents assessment and interventions in the EHR.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

• Oncology and/or Radiation Oncology experience as a registered nurse.
• Outpatient clinic experience as a registered nurse.
• OCN certification
• Call center experience

Responsibilities:

• Answer calls using Moffitt Promise Guidelines (AIDET), the quality caring factors, and the nursing process to assess the patient's issue, plan and properly evaluate the care.
• Complete, accurate and timely nursing documentation.
• Exercise clinical judgment and decision making. Recognizes emergencies and takes appropriate action.
• Identify, document and provide accurate and appropriate patient education.
• Participate in evidence-based improvement activities related to area of practice.
• Participate in professional development based on the nursing professional standards, regulatory requirements and job expectations.

Credentials and qualifications:

• BSN from an ACEN or CCNE accredited institution with at least one year of relevant experience or ASN from an ACEN or CCNE accredited institution with 1 year of relevant experience
• FL RN License
• BLS Certification
