Claims Specialist

Position Title: Claims Specialist Department: Claims Reports To: Claims Manager or Director of Claims Location: Florida (Hybrid/Remote as applicable) Role Description Mangrove Property Insurance is seeking an experienced Claims Specialist to serve as a senior technical resource within the Claims organization. This position is responsible for handling the company’s most complex, high-exposure, litigated, disputed, and regulatory-sensitive residential property claims while providing technical expertise and leadership to the broader claims team. The Claims Specialist acts as a subject matter expert in coverage analysis, claims strategy, litigation management, and complex loss resolution. This role partners closely with leadership to improve claims outcomes, ensure regulatory compliance, and support operational excellence across the department. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Independently manage complex residential property claims, including large losses, litigated matters, and highly contested files. Conduct in-depth coverage investigations and policy analysis to determine claim applicability and exposure. Develop and execute claim resolution strategies for high‑severity and high‑risk claims. Collaborate with legal counsel, engineers, consultants, and other experts to resolve complex claim matters. Provide technical guidance and mentoring to adjusters and other claims personnel. Review claim files for quality, accuracy, regulatory compliance, and best practices. Assist management with claim authority reviews, reserve adequacy evaluations, and settlement recommendations. Support responses to Department of Financial Services complaints, Civil Remedy Notices, and regulatory inquiries. Analyze litigation trends and emerging claim issues and provide recommendations to leadership. Participate in development and refinement of claims procedures, workflows, and training programs. Assist with catastrophe claims strategy and complex CAT claim oversight. Serve as a key stakeholder in audits, quality assurance reviews, and process improvement initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum 8–10 years of residential property claims experience. Extensive experience handling complex property, litigation, appraisal, mediation, and large‑loss claims. Advanced understanding of homeowners insurance coverage and policy interpretation. Strong knowledge of Florida insurance laws, regulations, and industry best practices. Demonstrated expertise in negotiation, dispute resolution, and claim strategy development. Experience reviewing claim files and providing technical guidance to claims personnel. Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills. Preferred Qualifications Industry designations such as CPCU, AIC, SCLA, ARM, or equivalent. Prior leadership, supervisory, or technical oversight experience. Experience interacting with outside counsel and regulatory agencies. Catastrophe claims management experience. #J-18808-Ljbffr
