Tunnel Engineer

Position Summary Tunnel Engineer for OHLA USA, Inc. Will report to our Queens, NY HQ location while working at multiple unanticipated locations across the USA. Conduct preliminary assessments and feasibility studies to determine tunnel project viability. Develop engineering designs for tunnels and underground structures. Responsibilities Conduct preliminary assessments and feasibility studies for tunnel projects. Design tunnels and underground structures. Travel daily to local work sites as required. Participate in underground tunnel work including climbing, stooping, crawling, and use of construction personnel hoists. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and work evening or weekend hours when necessary. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Geological Engineering, Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Minimum five (5) years of related experience in tunnel construction and required skills. Alternately, a Master’s degree in Geological Engineering, Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field with a minimum of four (4) years of related experience and required skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Slide, surveying using a Leica Total Station, and instrumentation for underground excavation such as extensometers, inclinometers, piezometers, strain gauges, or seismographs.
