Exciting New Pay Structure!Unit Overview:
The Intermediate Care Float Pool RN role is ideal for registered nurses who thrive in a dynamic setting and wish to enhance their experience in intermediate care. This position involves working across two campuses of our organization (Main & Saints campus).
As part of the Float Pool, RNs will benefit from an hourly differential for floating!
Work Schedule:- 24 or 36 hours per week
- Shifts available: 8 or 12 hours from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM or 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Every third weekend commitment
The Community RN Career Direct Care Pathway consists of four levels based on experience, education, and qualifications:
- Level I: Less than 12 months of RN experience.
- Level II: 12 months to less than 3 years of RN experience.
- Level III: 3 years to less than 8 years of RN experience.
- Level IV: 8 years or more of RN experience.
This role emphasizes delivering both professional and non-professional nursing care in line with physician directives. Key responsibilities include:
- Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for a designated group of patients.
- Providing nursing care and executing clinical support tasks as per the patient’s care plan.
- Overseeing processes, programs, and policies using specialized knowledge typically gained through advanced education.
The RN will independently deliver direct nursing care to patients and their families, adhering to established policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:- Valid RN license in Massachusetts.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Department-specific certifications may be required based on the type of patient care.
- Experience level must align with the designated level (I, II, III, or IV).
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
The following duties are intended to outline the general nature of the work and are not exhaustive. Additional responsibilities may be assigned:
- Engage in performance improvement initiatives.
- Integrate evidence-based practices and research into clinical care.
- Conduct and document precise clinical assessments.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
- Utilize professional judgment to tailor care plans based on patient assessments.
- Manage patient assignments by delegating tasks effectively based on team members' skills.
- Create educational plans for patients and families, documenting according to departmental standards.
- Support patient and family rights by facilitating informed decisions and advanced directives.
- Continuously assess and adjust care plans in response to changes in patient health.
- Formulate comprehensive discharge plans, utilizing appropriate resources and referrals.
- Assist in the onboarding and development of new staff members.
- Encourage professional growth through precepting.
- Identify personal learning needs and pursue relevant educational opportunities.
- Participate in departmental committees as necessary.
- Occasional lifting of 30-35 lbs and assisting with patient mobility.
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Occasional twisting, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, sitting, kneeling, and squatting.
- Exposure to infectious diseases and potential carcinogenic substances.
- Exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
- Fine manual dexterity required for patient handling.
- Visual and auditory acuity necessary for monitoring patient care.
- Strong communication skills with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare teams.
- Knowledge and application of the nursing process.
