Apply today and help shape the future of Oakland County, where we are All Ways Moving Forward.For more information about Oakland County benefits and employee perks, please visit: **General Summary**Location: Pontiac, MI Compensation: $45,511 - $60,976 annually The Auxiliary Health Clerk for the Oakland County Health and Human Services Department will support the Children's Village staff and residents by providing Administrative and Medical Assisting services. In this role you would perform para professional duties, provide routine services for County health clinics, perform various outreach, supporting conference and contractual agency sites and other locations as assigned. What You'll do: Performs such tasks as: assisting professional and para professional staff involved in performing technical health screening tasks; Phlebotomy, conducting minor laboratory tests at clinics/conference sites; taking, interpreting, and reporting physical measurements and findings; and rescheduling missed clinic appointments. May assist in drafting and distributing health education and public health information materials, including any associated record keeping, scheduling orientation and staff development programs and materials. Attends selected staff/supervisory group meetings and in service education programs. Assists professional staff in various routine licensing and regulatory functions, program planning and evaluation activities and the collection of information and preparation of reports, following established guidelines. Utilizes current Countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments. You'll have a challenging yet rewarding experience ensuring that juveniles receive proper medical care and development.## **Minimum Qualifications**EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIESREQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS* 1. Possess a valid Medical Assistant certification such as Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), etc. **AND*** 2a. Possess at least an Associate’s Degree or equivalent education from an accredited college or university with coursework in Journalism, English, Psychology, Sociology, Early Childhood Education or closely related areas; **OR*** 2b. Have Merit System status in any classification and be currently employed in the Health & Human Services Department; **AND** (i.) Have successfully completed at least the equivalent of one (1) year of college at an accredited college or university with coursework in Journalism, English, Psychology, Sociology, Early Childhood Education, or closely related areas; **AND** (ii.) Have two (2) years of full‐time work experience in the Oakland County Health & Human Services Department conducting or assisting in various para‐professional health assignments and activities requiring considerable knowledge and a thorough understanding of the various elements involved.ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS* Previous work experience with the general public either as a volunteer or an employee.* Pursuing college study leading to a degree in Public Health, Psychology, Nursing, Sociology, Social Work, or associated areas.* Reasonable knowledge of social needs, habits, and characteristics of behavior.* Reasonable ability to counsel, instruct and control people.* Reasonable ability to follow oral and written instructions.* Reasonable ability to prepare routine reports.* Reasonable ability to cope with challenging situations requiring immediate decisions in accordance with department policies and objectives.* Reasonable ability to develop and maintain effective communications with people.* Familiar with current word processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, and Internet software.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS* Employees of this class must submit to immunizations as required by the Health Division and submit to a tuberculin skin test or chest x‐ray, at County expense, once a year.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* Assists professional public health employees at various locations throughout Oakland County.* Assists and provides information concerning available services and procedures to persons visiting or seeking aid at the Health Division.* At clinic/conference sites, may conduct routine laboratory tests, screening tests and/or performs selected physical measurements (e.g., height, weight, head circumference) as assigned.* Provides prior authorization screening for services.* Provides follow‐up regarding client services.* Follows‐up on selected children referred from programs to assure medical attention is provided for their problem.* Assists in organizing health education materials and audio‐visual aids and displays.* Participates in agency task force when appropriate.* Attends selected staff meetings and supervisory group meetings.* Attends staff meetings and in‐service education offerings for public health nursing groups.* Makes appointments for various services, codes visits, separates and organizes reports, maintains files and records, inventories supplies, and performs a variety of associated duties.* Assists professional staff in routine licensing and regulatory procedures.* Following established guidelines, assists professional staff in monitoring local agency management information system reports by reviewing computations.* Assists professional staff in monitoring local agency contract compliance following established guidelines.* Assists professional staff in ensuring the accuracy and appropriateness of reports and data generated at both the local and central agency level following established procedures.* Assists the public by providing referrals and information such as phone numbers and locations of agencies.* Utilizes current Countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.ESSENTIAL MENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS* Ability to communicate accurately to convey information.* Ability to operate and/or utilize typical office and medical office equipment and supplies.WORKING CONDITIONS* Work is performed in a typical office/medical laboratory setting.* May participate in activities that require driving or being a passenger in an automobile.IMPORTANT NOTE: The primary purpose of this job description is to set a fair and equitable salary range for this job classification.
