ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality care in a fast-paced environment. This role requires strong experience with managing critically ill patients and a comprehensive understanding of ICU protocols.

Required Skills and Certifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a critical care or similar nursing role
• Experience with arterial lines and titrating vasoactive drips
• Conscious sedation administration
• Telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Management of dysrhythmias, including rapid response interventions
• Blood product administration and IV insulin protocols
• Central and peripheral line care management, including PICC management
• Experience with chest tubes and external CPAP/BIPAP
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and tracheostomy management
• Must hold current ACLS, BCLS, and NIH certifications

Job Details

• Target nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:3-4
• Contract lengths of 13 weeks or longer available
• 36 or 48 hours per week options
• 12-hour day shifts
• Must be available for hospital orientation and training during the first week
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend
• Floating to sister units as required

Patient Demographics

The unit typically cares for a variety of patients including:

• Respiratory distress cases
• Patients with unstable hemodynamics
• Withdrawal and GI bleed cases
• Post-operative patients from various surgical disciplines
• Pre/post-OB patients with complications

Special Procedures and Unit Details

The unit manages a diverse range of procedures and patient care processes, including:

• Administration of a single pressor drip per patient; additional pressor needs require ICU transfer
• Medication drips including Cardizem, Nitro, Precedex, and others

Equipment Utilized

Nurses will work with bedside telemetry monitors and remote backup systems. Proficiency in recognizing and managing dysrhythmias is essential.

Scheduling Information

• Created by nursing management with no block scheduling available
• Scrubs required: navy, white, or a combination of both
