Salary: $85,000 - $114,321 DOE



La Jolla / UTC Area, San Diego, CA | Full-Time | Hybrid (3 Remote Days per Week)

A well-established law firm in the La Jolla/UTC area is seeking an experienced Litigation Secretary to support a busy civil litigation practice. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with attorneys handling complex litigation matters while playing a key role in managing cases from inception through trial.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of California state and federal court procedures, experience with litigation calendaring and docketing, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Candidates who are organized, adaptable, and eager to learn are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, format, proofread, and finalize pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, and other legal documents.
• E-file documents in California state and federal courts.
• Maintain attorney calendars, deadlines, hearings, and litigation schedules.
• Perform docketing and ensure compliance with court rules and filing deadlines.
• Coordinate depositions, mediations, hearings, and other case-related events.
• Assist with discovery, document production, and trial preparation.
• Organize and maintain client files and case records.
• Manage attorney time entry, expense reimbursements, and administrative support tasks.
• Provide professional support to attorneys, clients, court personnel, and opposing counsel.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of litigation secretary or legal assistant experience preferred.
• Strong experience in California state and federal civil litigation.
• Knowledge of California court rules, procedures, and e-filing requirements.
• Ability to prepare and finalize pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents.
• Experience with calendaring, docketing, and deadline management.
• Familiarity with the full litigation lifecycle, including discovery and trial preparation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, document management systems, and litigation support software.
• Experience with platforms such as iManage, NetDocuments, Milana/CompuLaw, Best Authority, PACER, or similar systems is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and communication abilities.

Schedule

• Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• First month onsite for training
• Hybrid schedule thereafter: 2 days onsite and 3 remote days per week (consistent remote days required)
