Position Overview

We are hiring dedicated Special Education Teachers to join a brand-new K-6 program opening in Springfield, MA in Fall 2026. This innovative school is being built from the ground up to provide best-in-class, comprehensive educational services for students on the autism spectrum.

As a member of a collaborative team of approximately 18-20 educators, you will play a key role in creating a supportive, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment. Our mission is to deliver high-quality, fully integrated services that empower every student to reach their full potential.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized instructional plans aligned with students' IEP goals

• Create engaging, differentiated lessons that support academic, social, and behavioral development

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists, specialists, and families

• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation

• Foster a positive, safe, and supportive classroom environment

• Utilize evidence-based practices to support students with autism spectrum disorders

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or related field

• At least 1 year of teaching experience preferred

• Experience working with students on the autism spectrum is a plus

• Strong classroom management and communication skills

• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team-based environment

• Passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs

The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator provides quality services to special education students, kindergarten through grade 12. The Special Education Teacher has a commitment to team participation in planning and implementation of student programs including special instruction, tutorial assistance and consultation with general education staff.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university preferred

• Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract/district regulations

• Minimum of one year experience in teaching environment preferred

• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Elementary Teaching preferred

• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Secondary Teaching preferred

• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teaching preferred

• Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred

• Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

• Current CPR if applicable

• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age
