Job Description and Duties Under the direct supervision of the Environmental Program Manager I (Supervisory), the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory) will oversee the Textiles Unit. Responsibilities include: Provide first‑line supervision for Environmental Scientist staff. Apply principles of scientific research, physical and environmental sciences, statistical methods, and integrated waste management. Assess compliance with the Responsible Textile Recovery Act of 2024. Oversee staff determinations of violations and their impact on public health, safety, and environmental justice. Provide training, mentoring, and technical expertise to staff. Review findings and reports for technical adequacy and ensure accurate entry into the Department’s databases. Develop and implement new enforcement programs related to extended producer responsibility and product stewardship. Prepare and review environmental documents and develop regulations to enforce state minimum standards. Consult with other agencies and institutions engaged in related regulation and investigations. Travel throughout California as required, including consecutive days away from the office and overnight stays. Must possess a current California Driver’s License and participate in the DMV Employer Pull Notice Program. Special Requirements Valid California Driver’s License (CDL) required; provide CDL number, class, expiration date, and endorsements/restrictions. Maintain a good driving record.
