POSITION SUMMARY
The Lead Electrician is responsible for leading electrical work in the field while ensuring that installations are completed safely, efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with Company standards, project requirements, applicable codes, and customer expectations.
At Cornerstone Electric, a Lead Electrician is more than an installer. This role is expected to set the tone on the jobsite, guide helpers and apprentices, protect Company resources, communicate effectively, solve problems, and take ownership of the quality and productivity of assigned work.
The Lead Electrician must demonstrate strong trade knowledge, sound judgment, dependable leadership, professionalism, safety awareness, attention to detail, and pride in craftsmanship. This position requires the ability to lead by example and represent Cornerstone Electric with integrity at all times.

Lead Electricians represent Cornerstone Electric and are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on the Company at all times.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Field Leadership
• Lead assigned electrical work on residential, commercial, service, or project-based jobs as directed.
• Provide clear direction to helpers, apprentices, and other assigned team members and take ownership of the quality of their work and overall delivery.
• Set the standard for work ethic, professionalism, cleanliness, and quality.
• Maintain awareness of project priorities, deadlines, and scope of work.
• Communicate job progress, needs, delays, and concerns to the appropriate supervisor or manager.
• Help train and coach less experienced team members in safe, efficient, and correct work practices.
• Take ownership of jobsite organization and daily productivity.
Electrical Installation and Troubleshooting
• Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot electrical systems in accordance with applicable codes and Company standards.
• Read and interpret plans, specifications, diagrams, labels, schedules, and work orders.
• Lay out and install conduit, boxes, supports, panels, devices, fixtures, wiring, cable, and equipment.
• Perform circuit identification, testing, troubleshooting, and correction of electrical issues.
• Verify that work is neat, secure, complete, and ready for inspection or customer acceptance.
• Ensure installations meet NEC requirements, local codes, manufacturer instructions, and project specifications.
• Identify problems early and recommend practical solutions.
Jobsite Coordination
• Coordinate daily work activities with supervisors, project managers, customers, general contractors, and other trades as needed.
• Plan material, tool, and labor needs for assigned tasks.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
• Protect customer property, Company property, and finished surfaces.
• Support project setup, staging, inspections, punch work, and closeout activities.
• Document work completed, jobsite issues, change conditions, and needed follow-up.
Material and Tool Management
• Review material needs and communicate shortages in a timely manner.
• Receive, verify, organize, and stage materials for efficient installation.
• Use Company tools, equipment, vehicles, and materials responsibly.
• Maintain organized storage areas and reduce waste.
• Protect Company resources from loss, damage, or misuse.
• Return unused materials and tools according to Company expectations.
Safety Responsibilities
• Follow all Company safety policies and applicable OSHA requirements.
• Ensure required PPE is worn and used properly.
• Promote safe work practices among assigned team members.
• Identify and report hazards immediately.
• Use ladders, lifts, tools, meters, and equipment safely and correctly.
• Maintain awareness of energized work risks and follow required lockout/tagout and safe work procedures.
• Stop work and seek guidance when conditions are unsafe, unclear, or outside authorized scope.
• Participate in safety meetings and support a culture of safety.
Customer Service Expectations
• Conduct yourself professionally in all customer, coworker, vendor, and inspector interactions.
• Communicate respectfully and clearly.
• Maintain a clean appearance and professional presence.
• Protect customer property and minimize disruption.
• Avoid profanity, inappropriate conduct, and unnecessary conflict.
• Represent the Company positively at all times.
CRAFTSMANSHIP EXPECTATIONS
At Cornerstone Electric, quality matters.
Lead Electricians are expected to:

• Refuse shortcuts that compromise quality, safety, or integrity.
• Model proper installation techniques for developing tradesmen.
• Inspect work before calling it complete.
• Maintain organized work areas and professional jobsite standards.
• Continue improving trade knowledge, leadership skills, and technical ability.
A Lead Electrician should never accept "good enough" when excellence is achievable.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Demonstrated experience performing electrical installation, service, repair, and troubleshooting.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, tools, materials, and safe work practices.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, diagrams, and work orders.
• Knowledge of NEC requirements and applicable local codes.
• Ability to lead helpers and apprentices with patience, clarity, and accountability.
• Reliable transportation and ability to report to assigned jobsites on time.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, meters, and trade equipment.
• Strong work ethic, professionalism, and commitment to continuous improvement.
• Valid driver license and insurable driving record when operating Company vehicles is required.
• Electrical license, journeyman card, or other credentials may be required depending on job assignment, jurisdiction, and Company needs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Lift up to 75 pounds.
• Stand for extended periods.
• Walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and climb.
• Work from ladders, lifts, and elevated surfaces when required.
• Perform repetitive physical tasks.
• Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Work in confined spaces, attics, crawl spaces, and other jobsite environments as needed.
• Use tools and equipment safely for extended periods.
• Ability to perform duties safely and with attention to surroundings.

A successful Lead Electrician:

• Completes work safely, efficiently, and correctly.
• Maintains clean, organized, and productive jobsites.

• Protects Company tools, vehicles, materials, and reputation.
• Produces work that passes inspection and reflects pride in craftsmanship.
• Maintains positive customer and team relationships.
• Demonstrates ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
ADVANCEMENT EXPECTATIONS
Advancement from Lead Electrician to higher levels of responsibility is based on demonstrated performance, leadership, technical ability, safety awareness, reliability, communication, customer service, and readiness to assume additional responsibilities.
Length of service alone does not guarantee advancement.
The goal of the Lead Electrician position is to produce excellent electrical work, lead field teams well, develop future craftsmen, and strengthen the reputation of Cornerstone Electric through every project completed.
