The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience. Schedule: M-F 7a-3:30pm; Services Hours consist of Day, Evening, Night, weekends and holidays. Summary The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is an independent health care provider who coordinates care through collaboration with the attending Physician. The PA or APN provides care in accordance with the objectives, policies and procedures of the practice and the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners Physician Assistant/ Nurse Practitioner Advisory Committee. The main function of this role is to provide consistent, high-quality perioperative/postoperative care for all surgery patients. The APP will be expected to function as an active member of the Surgical and Cardiovascular team. Responsibilities Surgical first assisting Perioperative/postoperative management for surgical and cardiac catheterization patients Hospital rounds on inpatients Emergency room consultations Outpatient diagnostics (Stress Test) Medical decision making and management of Surgical and Cardiovascular patients Work to the full extent of their licensure with an emphasis on supervised autonomy Perform history and physical examinations in preparation for surgical and cardiovascular procedures Order appropriate laboratory, radiologic and special diagnostic tests and interpret and report to surgical and cardiovascular teams See emergent consults in the ED and treat conditions within the scope of the APP's practice and experience when appropriate Communicate complicated surgical/cardiovascular emergencies and appropriate preparation for surgery/cardiovascular intervention Assist with inpatient daily rounds; insert/discontinue central lines, chest tubes, arterial lines, wound dressing changes, bedside procedures; insert temporary dialysis catheters; conduct daily physical exams, midline catheters; address any patient concerns on the service Assist with and perform diagnostic testing (Stress Test) Thoroughly explain procedures to patients prior to testing Perform appropriate interpretation of laboratory/diagnostic testing Responsible for discharging patients in collaboration with the attending Demonstrate strong organizational, communication and time management skills Perform duties independently and coordinate care with bedside nurse, attending physician, and other consulting providers Compassionately interact with patients across different areas of care Qualifications Current APN Certification (Required for APN/NP) Current RN NJ state license (Required for APN/NP) CDS (Required for APN/NP) DEA (Required for APN/NP) Current BLS/ACLS (Required for APN/NP) RNFA Certification (Required for APN/NP; exception if Surgical NP certification has surgical assist built into program) Current Physician Assistant Certification (Required for Physician Assistant) CDS (Required for Physician Assistant) DEA (Required for Physician Assistant) Current BLS/ACLS (Required for Physician Assistant) Acute care certification (Preferred) 3-5 years of acute care hospital experience (Preferred) Scheduling Requirements Scheduled as needed (Days, Night Shift, Weekends, Holidays) Per Diem #J-18808-Ljbffr RWJBarnabas Health
