Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL (Onsite)
Schedule: Full-Time (Monday to Friday)
Compensation: $70,000 to $85,000 + Benefits, 401K, PTO and more.

About the Opportunity

Our client, a leading distributor serving the commercial construction and industrial markets across North America, is looking for a Buyer to join their Commercial Division at their largest and busiest branch in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

This is a high-impact purchasing role where you'll be responsible for keeping inventory moving, supporting a busy sales team, and ensuring products are available when customers need them. This branch operates at a fast pace with a high volume of purchase orders and constant collaboration between sales, warehouse, operations, and purchasing.

This is a fully onsite position (Monday through Friday) and is an immediate hiring priority.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Buyer will oversee purchasing activities for assigned product categories while ensuring inventory levels are maintained to support customer demand and branch operations.

This role requires someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing a high volume of purchase orders while balancing changing priorities throughout the day. You'll work closely with sales, warehouse, operations, and vendor partners to ensure products are delivered accurately and on time.

Success in this role comes from being adaptable, resilient, and able to perform under pressure without sacrificing accuracy or customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and manage a high volume of purchase orders, often exceeding 20+ purchase orders per day
• Analyze inventory and replenishment needs to maintain optimal stock levels
• Monitor lead times, delivery schedules, and supplier performance
• Coordinate inventory replenishment with branch and warehouse teams
• Build and maintain strong vendor and supplier relationships
• Resolve delivery delays, shortages, backorders, quality concerns, and order discrepancies
• Partner closely with the sales team to support customer orders and changing priorities
• Review purchasing data and inventory reports to support purchasing decisions
• Investigate inventory variances and implement corrective actions
• Support month-end inventory activities and purchasing processes
• Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and procedures
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives across the branch

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Previous purchasing, procurement, inventory management, or buying experience
• Experience within Building Materials, Commercial Construction Supply, Industrial Distribution, Wholesale Distribution, or similar industries is strongly preferred
• Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Comfortable working in a collaborative office and warehouse environment where departments work closely together
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is considered an asset but is not required
