HARRISONVILLE R-IX SCHOOL DISTRICT Position title: Secretary to Building Administrator Education Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Clerical course work or training in office management
- Secretarial experience preferred
- Knowledge of office practices and procedures
- Knowledge of financial recordkeeping and purchasing procedures
- Proficient with technology, electronic programs and on-line systems
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing (correct English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation)
- Understand and carry out oral and written instructions
- Effective interpersonal skills and telephone etiquette

- Regular, consistent attendance expected

- Work cooperatively with administrators and staff throughout the district
- Service parent and customer needs professionally, efficiently and with follow-through.
- Become familiar with and follow Board policies, regulations and administrative procedures.
- Learn and understand electronic systems applicable to the position including: SIS (Student Information System), Google Chrome, Sungard eFinance, Absence Management,and TalentEd.
- Coordinate the Administrator's calendar, schedule appointments, meetings, conferences and travel arrangements as required.
- Prepare agendas, attend meetings and take minutes as needed.
- Organize and coordinate office activities, communication, and workflow.
- Maintain filing systems containing confidential and sensitive information.
- Compile information and prepare accurate reports.
- Maintain financial records for departmental budgets and purchases.
- Oversee absence procedures for all building staff.
- Perform duties with speed and accuracy.
- Use independent judgement to organize work area and prioritize tasks.
- Work effectively with demanding schedules and timelines.
- Accept criticism calmly and with dignity without adopting a defensive attitude.
- Work under pressure in a noisy/disruptive environment.
- Duties performed sitting at desk/computer for long periods of time.
- Work as a positive team member, providing support to other building personnel.
- Dress professionally and in a manner that will not interfere with the educational environment.
- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Administrator.
