Job Title: Accountant III
Location: Anchorage, AK
Pay Rate: $67.00 – $87.54/hour
Employment Type: Temporary (12 months)

Role Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Interim Accountant to support a fuels distribution business during a system transition and integration phase. This role focuses on month-end close, inventory accuracy, and tax compliance while ensuring smooth ERP system migration and operational continuity.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and execute monthly close activities in alignment with the fuels business closing calendar
• Prepare and post recurring and ad hoc journal entries, including inventory accruals and intercompany transactions
• Perform general ledger reconciliations for inventory, accruals, prepaids, clearing accounts, and bank accounts
• Partner with operations and IT teams to support ERP transition from Ascend to Vertrax
• Assist with system testing, data reconciliation, and process documentation during integration

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience with ERP integrations (preferably Ascend to Vertrax and Oracle)
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and fuel excise tax (Form 730)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in fuel distribution, logistics, or marine operations
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to reconcile complex data and resolve discrepancies
• Experience analyzing process flows and identifying system/data mapping issues
