Job Title: Operator Job Description

This role involves operating production machinery in a CNC machine shop environment while supporting general manufacturing tasks across multiple shifts. You will help ensure smooth, efficient, and safe production processes by running equipment, monitoring output quality, and assisting with general labor duties as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate production and CNC machinery in accordance with established procedures and safety guidelines.
• Monitor machines during operation to ensure proper performance and product quality.
• Perform basic machine adjustments and setups as directed to maintain efficient production flow.
• Carry out general labor tasks such as material handling, loading and unloading parts, and keeping the work area organized.
• Inspect parts visually and with basic measuring tools to confirm they meet quality standards.
• Report any equipment issues, defects, or safety concerns promptly to the appropriate personnel.
• Follow all safety protocols, housekeeping standards, and production instructions throughout the shift.
• Collaborate with team members across shifts to support consistent production output.

Essential Skills

• At least 6 months of manufacturing experience.
• Experience with production or machine operation in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
• Ability to operate basic machinery safely and follow standard operating procedures.
• Capability to perform general labor tasks, including lifting, moving materials, and standing for extended periods.
• Attention to detail when monitoring machines and checking product quality.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
• Reliability in adhering to assigned shift schedules and attendance expectations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in a CNC machine shop environment is beneficial.
• Familiarity with machine operating practices and basic troubleshooting is an advantage.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced production setting.
• Willingness to learn new equipment and processes.

Work Environment

This position is based in a CNC machine shop that operates three shifts: 1st shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 2nd shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and 3rd shift from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. There are two operator positions per shift. The environment is a typical industrial production setting with active machinery, where you will spend most of your time on the shop floor operating equipment and performing general labor tasks. You should expect to stand for extended periods, handle materials, and work around CNC and other production machines while following all safety and shop guidelines.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Norton Shores, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $17.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
