IT Project Manager II Location: Sacramento, CA, US 95817-1899 Pay Range: Minimum Pay Rate: $128,481.60 — Maximum Pay Rate: $170,144.00 Employment Details Type: Part‑time (30–38 hours per week) Posting Type: Open Apply by: 07/15/2026 Responsibilities Leadership of complex initiatives with high‑level visibility and performance expectations. Navigation and coordination across multiple business and IT work teams to ensure broad understanding of effort and successful delivery. Work closely with third‑party system integrators and subcontractors to maintain continuous alignment with a detailed project plan. Identify and manage sequencing requirements and technical dependencies across multiple internal and external work teams. Ensure all integration requirements are identified and coordinated across SMUD systems. Ensure accurate and timely budget monitoring and forecast adjustments. Coordinate activities and projects in assigned area; develop project plans, cost estimates, budgets, work breakdowns, schedules, and project summary descriptions. Coordinate project planning with other staff through meetings, written and oral reporting, and communications. Plan, prioritize, monitor, guide, review, and conduct work activities to meet established objectives and schedules. Review the work of project team members; ensure methods meet SMUD policies and quality standards; provide guidance, performance evaluations, and development actions. Negotiate, prepare, and manage participation agreements and other contracts with outside contractors; direct contractor activities per contract requirements. Develop and monitor project resources to ensure proper use of SMUD and other participant resources and smooth coordination with external parties. Provide timely and accurate project status and related information; collect, verify, organize, and maintain data; prepare written summaries, reports, and recommendations. Perform related duties as required. Required Education Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a field directly related to the area of assignment, or equivalent experience with nine or more years of relevant experience. Required Experience Qualifications Five or more years of progressively responsible project management experience in technical areas such as financial/economic analysis, marketing and customer research, technical and engineering analysis, or planning and business development, including at least one year in a responsible project leadership role. Required Licenses/Certificates Earn a Project Management Institute (PMI) PMP certification within 12 months of appointment. Acceptable alternative education or certification include: PMI ACP Agile Certified Practitioner Engineering degree with requisite experience Construction Management degree with requisite experience Professional Engineer certification with requisite experience Construction Management certification with requisite experience Desirable Qualifications Three or more years of experience managing large‑scale, complex, and highly visible projects that include application vendor or system integrator resources. Three or more years of experience in PMO environments using modern project management tools such as ServiceNow PPM, Atlassian JIRA and Align, Microsoft Project, and SharePoint. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders, vendors (including subcontractors), and cross‑functional teams of business and technical experts. One or more years of experience in both Waterfall and Agile delivery methodologies; Scrum certification a plus. Excellent communicator with strong leadership and conflict‑resolution skills. One or more years of project management experience within the utility industry, with a strong understanding of regulatory and compliance frameworks.
