## Patient Services Specialist 2Applyremote type: No Teleworklocations: Seattle, WAtime type: Part timeposted on: Posted Todayjob requisition id: REQ-0000135417**Job Description****UW Medical Center-Montlake - Admitting Department** has an outstanding opportunity to hire a **Patient Services Specialist 2****WORK SCHEDULE*** 50% FTE (20 hours per week)* Day shift**POSITION HIGHLIGHTS*** Responsible for facilitating patient admissions, transfers, and discharges* Perform clerical duties in support of the unit* Be part of a team committed to the UW Medicine mission where **Patients Are First****PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*** Register patients and verify, collect, and update demographic and financial information* Determine eligibility for care, assign payor plans, and verify insurance benefits for emergency and planned services* Obtain authorizations and necessary signatures for consents; complete Medicare as a Secondary Payor forms; collect co-pays or patient liabilities* Respond to patient inquiries and provide directions within the medical center* Assist patients and families via phone and in person while maintaining confidentiality of patient information* Triage phone calls to clinical staff and gather necessary info for return calls or emergencies* Communicate with patients, providers, and external agencies regarding financial arrangements, protocols, billing procedures, and insurance coverage* Assist patients in completing paperwork, including insurance forms* May coordinate death procedures and handle documentation* Participate in testing or implementing new systems or processes* Advocate for patients and families, helping them connect with appropriate staff and safeguarding privacy**REQUIREMENTS*** High School graduation or equivalent* One year of healthcare or administrative experience* Equivalent education/experience may substitute for required qualifications**ABOUT UW MEDICAL CENTER - MONTLAKE**Located in Seattle, UW Medical Center is an acute care academic medical center with two campuses—Montlake and Northwest.
