Property Accountant

POSITION: PROPERTY ACCOUNTANT (Senior or Staff based on experience; $65k-85k)

REPORTS TO: Controller/VP of Accounting

SUMMARY: This professional will be responsible for full cycle property accounting functions for approximately 16 multifamily properties; including but not limited to, GL accounting, treasury, A/R and A/P, distributions, budgets, and assisting with the department’s evolution. Additionally, this person will complete miscellaneous assignments and projects for the accounting department. There is a very high potential for growth.

GENERAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Full cycle GL accounting – month end close out and analysis of financial statements
• Review AP for coding accuracy
• Prepare journal entries for review
• GL analysis review and Balance Sheet reconciliations
• Monthly bank reconciliations
• Journal Entry preparation and posting; reconciliations, financial reporting package preparation for investors
• Banking transactions such as wires, ACHs, book transfers, and check deposits
• Ownership of the accounting email account used by vendors and internal team members for accounting support
• Enter corporate invoice into accounting system
• Assist colleagues with financial statement packaging and retrieving various monthly statements
• Additional assignments and ad-hoc projects as needed

EXPERIENCE

• Windows based programs and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel knowledge is required)
• Resman or Yardi software experience a plus

JOB REQUIREMENTS / COMPETENCIES

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or 3 years or more of accounting experience
• Excel: Intermediate to Advance
• Business acumen and customer service-oriented demeanour
• Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously in a high paced, high volume and deadline driven environment
• Work chameleon; be adaptable to full autonomy or a team player
