I.      GENERAL INFORMATION:

Department:  Press Room

Location:  Shop

Position Status:  Non-exempt

Position reports to:  Production Supervisor

Positions supervised: None

II .      POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Welds (mig, tig, spot, robotic) various materials as directed to ensure production and quality goals are met in a timely manner.

III.   JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (essential and other functions):

1.      Produce products (welded and otherwise) per instructions.

2.      Work from drawings, job card, and specifications.

3.      Know, understand, and demonstrate proper use of controls, equipment, and measuring tools.

4.      Comply with all Company policies.

5.      Notify supervisor or lead person immediately of problems, concerns, or questions you may have.

6.      Keep work area clean & free of hazards.

7.      Follow special job instructions as communicated by supervisor or lead person or as on job card.

8.      Any other duties as assigned by supervisor or lead person.

IV.    REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

1.  Knowledge:

High School diploma or equivalent and good math skills required.

Knowledge to weld various types and thicknesses of materials.

Familiar with measuring instruments (tape measure, scales, calipers, etc.)

Ability to interpret weld symbols on blueprints.

2.  Experience:

Pressroom, machine operator and/or other related production experience strongly preferred.

Completed basic welding course or one year of related welding experience.

3.  Ability/skills

Capable of mig, tig, spot, and robotic welding.

Willing and able to perform repetitive tasks.

Able and willing to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Safety and quality minded.

Team player, works with others to solve problems and helps others when assistance is needed.

V.    WORKING CONDITIONS

1.      Fast paced, job shop and fabrication business.

2.      Some heavy lifting required.

3.      Ever changing priorities.

4.      Possible overtime.

5.      PPE required.

6.      Noise, dust, dirt, heat, cold in winter environment.

VI.   LEVEL

1.      Works under minimal supervision.

2.      Exercises some degree of discretion and independent judgment.

Proficient in GTAW and GMAW for mild steel and Stainless steel in the positions of F4 and G4.

Blueprint reading abilities.

Ability to maintain specified tolerance on blueprints using measuring equipment, such as calipers and height gauges.

Operate hand and power tools, such as drills, saws, and grinders.
