Job Title: Cashier

Location: Retail Grocery Store Location

General Job Description:

The cashier associate is responsible for increasing customer trust and loyalty by providing accurate, fast, and courteous customer checkout. This person maintains financial responsibility in their service lane.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide ongoing attention to customer needs; greet, assist, and thank customers promptly, courteously, and amicably.
• Listen to and appropriately escalate customer concerns to management with a positive attitude.
• Manage the lane according to service standards.
• Inform customers of special offers and promotions as requested by the company or store management.
• Accurately record sales through the scanning system; operate the cash register equipment precisely and efficiently, recognizing all forms of offers and providing correct change when appropriate.
• Stock front-end products; restock and use supply items efficiently to eliminate waste and keep supply cost lower.
• Place discarded or returned merchandise.
• Return shopping carts to the cart corral.
• Assist in the training of new cashiers.
• Maintain the work area clean, orderly, and free of safety hazards.
• Report defective equipment and hazards to management.
• Notify management of associate theft, customer shoplifting, unauthorized discounts, defacement of property, or any action that is illegal and/or against company policy.
• Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Meet legal and company policy age requirements for job functions.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions in English.
• Authorization to work in the United States or ability to obtain it.
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug tests and background checks.
• Preferred: High standard of integrity and reliability.
