Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to support the design, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization of high-volume automated manufacturing equipment and control systems.
Title: Controls Engineer
Location: Libertyville, IL
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and support PLC, HMI, SCADA, and machine control systems.
- Lead/support equipment installation, FAT/SAT, validation, and commissioning.
- Program and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and servo systems.
- Troubleshoot electrical, controls, motion, instrumentation, vision, and communication systems.
- Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Optimize HMI, SCADA, MES, and machine vision systems.
- Support PLC/software changes, risk assessments, change controls, and technical documentation.
- Provide technical support and training to maintenance and automation teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with 7+ years of manufacturing experience.
- Strong experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and Studio 5000/Logix Designer.
- Experience with FactoryTalk, Ignition, Cognex, PowerFlex VFDs, and Kinetix servo drives.
- Knowledge of EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, ProfiNet, Modbus, RS-232/422/485, and industrial networks.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with sensors, safety systems, remote I/O, instrumentation, and control hardware.
Preferred
- Medical device or regulated manufacturing experience.
- Experience with Cognex, Keyence, Fanuc, Beckhoff, or B&R/ABB systems.
