Executive Director, CIB COO Business Manager

The Chief Operating Office (COO) supports the business by delivering platforms, processes and systems across a wide range of disciplines. This includes LOB business management, business solutions & enablement, client lifecycle management, data management, strategy & transformation, and innovation.

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Business Manager to support the CIB Chief Operating Officer and serve as a trusted strategic advisor and execution leader to the COO and senior leadership team. This role is responsible for driving the strategic, operational, organizational, and talent agenda of the CIB COO organization while ensuring alignment across business management, finance, human resources, risk, control, technology, and transformation functions.

The Business Manager operates as an extension of the COO, translating strategic priorities into measurable outcomes, driving executive governance and decision-making, accelerating enterprise-wide initiatives, and ensuring organizational effectiveness across a large and complex global organization. The successful candidate will combine exceptional business acumen, strategic thinking, executive presence, organizational leadership, and execution discipline to influence outcomes at the most senior levels of the company while operating as an individual contributor.

In this role, you will:

Strategic Leadership & Executive Advisory

• Serve as a strategic advisor to the CIB COO on business, organizational, operational, talent, and governance matters.
• Translate executive vision and strategic priorities into actionable plans with measurable outcomes.
• Drive development and execution of the COO organization’s strategic agenda.
• Provide thought leadership on organizational effectiveness, workforce strategy, succession planning, and operating model evolution.
• Conduct analysis and provide recommendations to support executive decision-making.

Executive Governance & Operating Rhythm

• Lead executive governance processes, management routines, business reviews, and organizational planning activities.
• Establish and manage leadership team operating cadence, including staff meetings, business reviews, scorecards, and strategic planning sessions.
• Ensure timely follow-up and accountability for executive decisions and commitments.
• Coordinate executive communications, board and senior management materials, and leadership presentations.

Business Performance & Organizational Effectiveness

• Monitor organizational health, performance metrics, financial results, productivity measures, workforce trends, and strategic initiative delivery. Create materials to support the monthly business reviews with the CIB CEO.
• Partner with Finance, HR, Risk, Control Management, and Business Execution leaders to develop insights and recommendations for senior leadership.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational effectiveness, simplification, and organizational efficiency.
• Identify and address execution risks that could impact business performance.
• Program manage the COO strategic book of work to ensure high-quality results are delivered on time.

Enterprise Priorities & Transformation

• Lead cross-functional, high-impact initiatives on behalf of the COO.
• Coordinate execution across multiple organizations and stakeholder groups.
• Provide oversight of strategic programs, transformation efforts, regulatory commitments, and organizational change initiatives.
• Resolve complex issues requiring coordination across teams, businesses, and corporate functions.

Talent & Culture Leadership

• Partner with Human Resources and executive leadership to develop talent strategies, succession plans, leadership development programs, and employee engagement initiatives.
• Support executive hiring, organizational design activities, workforce planning, and leadership assessments.
• Promote a culture of accountability, inclusion, collaboration, and high performance.
• Serve as a steward of the organization’s leadership principles and culture priorities.

Stakeholder Management

• Build and maintain strong relationships with senior leaders across CIB, Enterprise Functions, Risk, Compliance, Audit, Technology, Finance, Legal, and Human Resources.
• Act as the delegate and represent the COO in key meetings, forums, and governance committees when appropriate.
• Influence outcomes and align stakeholders around shared business priorities.
• Manage highly sensitive and confidential matters with exceptional judgment and discretion.

Leadership Expectations

Required Qualifications:

• 7+ years of Business Execution, Implementation, or Strategic Planning experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

• Significant experience supporting senior executives and leading enterprise-wide initiatives.
• Proven track record of influencing executive-level stakeholders and driving strategic outcomes.
• Strong understanding of organizational design, governance, risk management, workforce planning, and business operations.
• Exceptional executive communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.
• Demonstrated experience leading through organizational change and transformation.
• Ability to manage multiple complex priorities in a highly dynamic environment.
