The Deschutes County Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for a Wellness Coordinator. This position is a non-sworn leadership role that defines and drives the strategic direction of the Sheriff's Office Wellness Program. Serving as the agency's primary wellness strategist, the position develops policy, oversees program operations and budget, and advises executive leadership on mental health and wellbeing initiatives. It is distinguished by its responsibility for shaping how employees access support-particularly after critical incidents-while coordinating evidence-based resources, training, and referrals through licensed providers and community partners. Compensation
$6,027.10 to $8,076.88 for a 173.33 hour work month. Excellent County benefit package when eligible. This position is available immediately. BENEFITS: Our robust healthcare package covers medical, prescription, dental, and vision coverage at a minimal cost of $100 for employee only and $121 per month for employee plus dependents, which includes an innovative on-site clinic, pharmacy, and wellness and wellbeing services. - Develop, implement, oversee, and evaluate the Sheriff's Office Wellness Program; including evidence-based wellness-focused training, programs, meetings, and related curricula.
- Develop, recommend, and implement wellness program policies, procedures, referral pathways, and operational protocols consistent with management direction; identify funding resources and grants; and support budget planning for program delivery and sustainability.
- Evaluate and select wellness program community partners and vendors in collaboration with leadership, manage contracts and expenditures.
Knowledge of or experience with:
- Evolving regulatory requirements around wellness programs for first responders; exercise judgment to maintain compliance and implement changes to address evolving regulatory requirements and best practices related to wellness programs for first responders.
- Participating in Critical Incident Debriefings and coordinating clinical referrals, resource access, and follow-up processes designed to support employees as needed.
- Serving as the liaison between staff and external clinical or community providers, including coordinating referrals and connecting staff with appropriate support resources.
- Providing wellness support services and crisis intervention for staff consistent with established program protocols and referral practices.
- Responding to critical incidents as requested, providing on-scene crisis support and implementing established post-incident response procedures for employees, volunteers, and chaplains.
- Conducting initial and ongoing assessments to identify organizational wellness needs, policy gaps, barriers to service utilization, and operational improvements for all Sheriff's Office staff.
