Human Resources Assistant

Overview Human Resources Assistant – Lafayette Federal Credit Union (DC, MD, or VA residency required) Responsibilities Initiate, track, and maintain Employee Status Change Checklists (ESCCs), partnering with managers, staff, and cross‑functional teams to ensure accurate and timely documentation and approvals, and proactively follow up on outstanding items. Maintain accurate, organized, and up‑to‑date HR records in both the internal network and the HRIS system, ensuring files are complete, current, and compliant with record‑keeping and confidentiality standards. Provide comprehensive administrative and clerical support to the HR team, including invoice reconciliation, onboarding/offboarding administrative processes, and periodic audits of personnel files to ensure compliance. Support the HR department with adhoc projects and initiatives, contributing to special assignments, process improvements, audits, reporting, and department‑wide initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and employee experience. Serve as backup front‑desk coverage during lunch periods and time‑off coverage, maintaining a professional and welcoming presence to support continuity of operations. Qualifications One to three years of relevant Human Resources experience with the ability to collaborate effectively with employees and leadership across all organizational levels. Professional demeanor, strong judgment, and high discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information in a fast‑paced, demanding environment. Exceptional attention to detail, reliability, punctuality, flexibility, and the ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy and composure.
