Farm Operations Manager

Job Overview Directs production and processing operations through a team of functional managers and front line supervisors. Ensures increasing levels of customer and employee satisfaction while improving the efficiency of manpower, materials and machines. Key Responsibilities Manages policy deployment in the areas of Lean Manufacturing techniques, quality, cost reduction, complete and on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls and plant performance measures. Provides leadership for employee relations through effective communication, coaching, training and development. Leads problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships. Manages material requirements to increase inventory turns and reduce levels on hand. Ensures compliance with company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and on-time delivery. Balances work cell capacity/loading across the plant. Manages compliance with state and federal regulations. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Human Resources) or equivalent work experience in the poultry industry. 5-10 years of prior poultry management work experience. Extensive knowledge of poultry management, including care and nutritional needs of chickens, operation and maintenance of equipment used in egg production and processing, maintenance needs of barns, mills, tractors, and vehicles. Understanding of bio-security and animal welfare practices in the poultry environment. Strong communication and team building skills. Ability to manage several projects simultaneously and resolve conflicts. Ability to follow and enforce company policies and procedures consistently. Budget management skills to operate the farm cost efficiently. Physical Demands Sit, use keyboard, fine manipulation with hands and fingers. Lift up to 10 pounds. Work in a clean, temperature-controlled environment with moderate noise level. Exposure to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles. Temperature varies with outside conditions. Personal protective equipment normally not required.
