About the Position

We are seeking a skilled  Nurse Practitioner (NP) for a locum tenens surgical assignment providing a mix of Surgical First Assist in the Operating Room and Medical Surgical Floor coverage . This role offers a dynamic clinical environment working alongside a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities include assisting in surgical procedures and supporting perioperative care, such as:

• First assisting in surgeries across General Surgery, OB/GYN, and Orthopedics
• Performing surgical tasks including suturing, wound closure, hemostasis, and tissue handling
• Supporting patient positioning, sterile field maintenance, and intraoperative care
• Assisting with suction, drainage, and irrigation procedures
• Providing post-operative care including rounding, progress notes, and discharge planning
• Managing patient orders, consults, and coordination of care

This position also includes call opportunities , including weekday and weekend coverage, with a structured schedule and potential for extended assignments beyond the initial coverage period.

✅ Qualifications

• Active New York Nurse Practitioner License (required)
• Board Certified Nurse Practitioner
• Minimum 2 years of recent surgical experience
• Robotics experience strongly preferred
• Current certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

  • ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support)

• Experience with EPIC EMR system
• Strong clinical, communication, and teamwork skills
• Clean, consistent work history with no unexplained gaps
