Principal OpenShift Kubernetes Engineer

Salary: $112,700 - 193,200 per year Requirements:

• We require a bachelors degree or equivalent practical experience.
• We need at least 5 years of production Kubernetes administration experience.
• We expect hands-on experience with Ansible and related automation frameworks.
• We look for experience with container technologies and image creation.
• We require a strong track record troubleshooting enterprise-scale platform incidents.
• We need experience deploying and administering OpenShift Virtualization (KubeVirt) for both containerized and virtual machine workloads.
• We expect experience with enterprise monitoring, logging, and alerting tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, AlertManager, and Thanos.
• We require experience with Git Action pipeline deployments for OpenShift, bash scripting with oc, and close collaboration with application teams on deployments, namespaces, affinities, and sizing.
• We need experience with cross-datacenter high availability failover and load balancing using F5 and haproxy across multiple datacenters and Kubernetes clusters.
• We require solid knowledge of Kubernetes internals, including scheduling, networking, storage, ingress and load balancing, operators, and cluster lifecycle management.
• We expect proficiency in shell scripting and at least one programming language such as Python or Go.
• We require deep expertise with Red Hat OpenShift.
• We need strong Linux administration skills, preferably on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
• We require excellent communication and technical documentation skills.
• We expect a security-first mindset with experience in platform hardening, identity and access management, vulnerability remediation, encryption, and regulatory compliance.
• Preferred experience includes a Red Hat OpenShift certification.
• Standout experience includes OpenShift on IBM LinuxONE and IBM Z environments, as well as s390x Linux architecture.
• Preferred qualifications also include GitOps, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure-as-Code, high-availability Kubernetes environments, mission-critical applications with strict uptime needs, enterprise networking, Kubernetes networking architectures, and GPFS or similar distributed storage technologies.

• We administer, maintain, and optimize enterprise OpenShift Kubernetes platforms running on High-Performance Compute infrastructure.
• We manage large-scale OpenShift clusters using the OpenShift Console, OpenShift CLI, Advanced Cluster Manager, and automation tooling.
• We design and implement automated deployment, configuration, and lifecycle management solutions.
• We build Infrastructure-as-Code and automation frameworks with Ansible and scripting.
• We troubleshoot complex Kubernetes, container, networking, and platform issues.
• We partner with developers to improve application reliability, observability, scalability, and performance.
• We implement enterprise security controls and platform hardening standards.
• We support high availability, disaster recovery, and multi-cluster architectures.
• We drive platform modernization and operational excellence through automation.
• We participate in architecture reviews and help shape the future state of our enterprise container platforms.
