Senior Manager, Software Engineering

Role Description

Ensemble Health Partners is seeking a Manager, Software Engineering to lead the VUR/UM engineering team, driving the development and delivery of cloud-based products that drive better care for patients and lower operating costs.

• Lead a team of approximately 8 engineers.
• Partner closely with Product Management to define roadmaps, prioritize work, and deliver incremental value through modern software engineering practices.
• Balance business outcomes with engineering excellence.
• Challenge existing processes and help drive innovation across the organization.

Qualifications

• 7 to 10 years of job experience.
• 3 to 5 years of people leadership experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 7-10 years as a software engineer.
• 3-5 years of experience leading a team of engineers preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in modern technology stacks.
• Understanding of engineering fundamentals: testing automation, code reviews, telemetry, iterative delivery, and DevOps.
• Experience with continuous integration & continuous delivery tools, REST API development, serverless architecture, containerization, IaC, public cloud, application observability, GraphQL, and/or event-driven architecture.
• Experience delivering scalable applications using componentized and distributed architectures.
• Solid foundations in formal architecture, design patterns, and best practices.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience making recommendations to leadership on technology innovations.
• Exposure to AI-enabled development tools, code generation models, or ML-driven insights.
• Must be inquisitive and demonstrate openness to innovation including AI.

• Drive adoption of engineering best practices including agile methodologies, CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and DevOps principles.
• Continuously identify opportunities to improve applications, development processes, architecture, and infrastructure.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to develop innovative solutions.
• Coach and support engineers through technical challenges and career development.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and make recommendations to leadership.
• Analyze team performance, technical debt, and platform needs.
• Foster strong cross-functional partnerships with product leaders, architects, and engineering leaders.
