Senior Manager, Software Engineering

Role Description

The Senior Manager, Software Engineering leads the activities of a software development team for software enhancements and new product development. Critical functions of your role include:

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversees all development phases including specification, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and running software that supports Adaptive’s production software systems.
• Interacts with software program managers and internal customers to define application requirements and/or necessary modifications.
• Manages a team of software developers, prioritizing efforts to align with company and team goals.
• Develops strong technical understanding of production systems and plans for continuous improvement with elimination of technical debt.
• Participates in release activities including specification, design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in computer science, Bioinformatics, or equivalent with 12+ years of related software engineering and leadership experience.
• Masters in computer science with 8+ years of related experience.
• Experience creating and maintaining complex software using modern methodologies in both Linux and Windows environments.
• Extensive experience with a modern general scripting language such as Python or Groovy; strongly typed object-oriented languages such as Java or C#; experience with relational databases such as Oracle or Postgres.
• Strong familiarity with source control, unit testing, in-code documentation, and automated build environments.
• Superior communication skills to effectively interact in a highly diverse cross-discipline environment.
• Ability to work well in a team; open to pair-programming and/or code-reviews.
• Experience dealing with production issues including interacting with primary users and providing production support.
• Ability to understand, debug, maintain, and/or refactor legacy code.
• Experience with Java Servlets, JSPs, HTML, and JavaScript.
• Knowledge of object-oriented JS frameworks like AngularJS.
• Experience with build tools like Ant or Gradle.
• Experience with web UI frameworks, Web services, and RESTful APIs.

Requirements

• Office environment, travel if needed, max 10%.

Benefits

• Salary Range: $163,100 - $244,700.
• Possible “other compensation” elements to include: equity grant, bonus eligible.
