Job Overview Under general supervision, performs professional nursing duties in hospitals, emergency hospitals, clinics, sanitariums and other institutions. Nurses provide care within assigned units or clinics and deliver services in a variety of SFDPH settings. Responsibilities Provide nursing care to patients within an assigned hospital unit, clinic, or any SFDPH setting that requires registered nursing care. Observe and report symptoms and conditions of patients. Takes and records vital signs or other diagnostics including temperatures, respiration and pulse. Report unusual occurrences and results of treatments. Set up treatment trays, prepare instruments and other equipment. Implement medical and nursing care plans. Direct and supervise the patient care provided by nursing personnel. Maintain standard unit or clinic activities. Assist in administering highly specialized therapy. Maintain records reflecting patients' condition, medication, treatment and reactions. Follow regulations, policies, and procedures for nursing care. May direct auxiliary sub‑professional personnel in performing tasks related to patient care and sanitation. Perform other related duties as assigned or required. Minimum Qualifications Possession of a valid California Registered Nurse License (permanent or temporary, including interim permits). License status must be current. At least one year of experience working as a registered nurse (equivalent to 2,000 hours of qualifying work experience).
