Position Summary

The Data Analytics Analyst II supports enterprise analytics, reporting, and data-driven decision-making by working with large, complex datasets in cloud-based environments . This role partners closely with data engineers, business stakeholders, and subject matter experts to ensure accurate, reliable, and well-structured data for dashboards, reports, and analytical products.

The ideal candidate brings strong SQL expertise , experience with cloud data platforms , and the ability to troubleshoot data quality and pipeline issues in a fast-paced, enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities
Data Analysis & Reporting

• Analyze large, complex datasets to support enterprise reporting and analytics products
• Support and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI tools
• Translate business questions into efficient, analytics-ready datasets
• Ensure datasets are optimized for visualization performance and usability

SQL & Data Development

• Write, optimize, and maintain advanced SQL queries , including:
  
  • Complex joins
  • CTEs
  • Window functions
  • Performance optimization
• Develop reusable, well-documented SQL assets

Cloud Data Platforms

• Work with cloud-based data platforms such as:
  
  • Databricks
  • Azure Synapse
  • Snowflake
  • BigQuery (or similar)
• Understand and support data ingestion flows from source systems to cloud storage and analytics layers

Data Modeling & Transformation

• Structure data for analytics using:
  
  • Fact and dimension models
  • Wide vs. narrow table designs
• Prepare datasets optimized for dashboards and enterprise reporting

Data Quality & Validation

• Identify data discrepancies between source systems and cloud datasets
• Troubleshoot data quality, ingestion, and pipeline issues
• Facilitate root-cause analysis and coordinate issue resolution across teams

Required Qualifications

• 3-5 years of professional experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or a related role
• Proven experience working with large datasets in cloud environments
• Advanced SQL proficiency (required)
• Experience supporting enterprise dashboards and analytics products
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with data engineers and SMEs
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Power BI
• Experience within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem , including:
  
  • Azure Data Factory
  • Azure SQL
  • Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS)
• Experience with PySpark or Python for data analysis and transformations
• Familiarity with ETL / ELT pipelines and orchestration concepts
• Experience using version control systems (Git or similar)
• Basic understanding of data governance, lineage, or metadata management

Domain & Business Experience (Preferred)

• Experience in utilities, energy, infrastructure, or regulated industries
• Familiarity with operational, asset, or time-series data
• Experience working with imperfect or operational source systems
