Registered Nurse - Cardiac Stepdown

Job Description

Job Summary:
The Cardiac Stepdown Nurse provides specialized care to adult and geriatric patients with various cardiac conditions, including arrhythmias, post-cardiac procedures, and congestive heart failure. The role requires managing complex IV medications and ensuring optimal patient outcomes in a fast-paced unit.

Responsibilities:

• Administer and monitor cardiac drips such as Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and Nitroglycerin.
• Manage patient care for individuals with arrhythmias, post-surgical cardiac patients, and those experiencing chest pain, pulmonary edema, DVT, and PE.
• Respond to emergencies including cardioversion and acute cardiac events while maintaining patient stability.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams using systems like Epic or Pyxis to document and dispense medications accurately.
• Maintain compliance with all clinical and safety protocols, including necessary certifications and unit policies.
• Float within the facility as needed to support various patient care areas and ensure coverage for high patient ratio.

Qualifications:

• Active RN license in GA or a Compact state required at submission.
• Minimum of 2 years experience managing continuous IV medications in a cardiac or stepdown setting.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Demonstrated proficiency in arrhythmia management and use of unit systems like Epic and Pyxis.
• Strong clinical skills in handling cardiac emergencies, vascular access, and post-procedural care.
• Ability to work 3x12 night shifts with flexibility for floating and rare call requirements.
