About the Role

As a Precision Manual Lathe Machinist, you’ll turn raw stock into tight‑tolerance components using manual and semi‑automatic lathes. You’ll translate engineering intent from blueprints and technical drawings into high‑quality metal parts across a range of materials and alloys, relying on strong mechanical know‑how and a quality‑first mindset.

A Day in the Life

• Review prints, schematics, and drawings to confirm specifications, dimensions, and finishes.
• Set up workholding and tooling on manual or semi‑automatic lathes; establish speeds and feeds appropriate to the material.
• Run parts and verify dimensions using precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, dial indicators) to ensure accuracy.
• Inspect completed pieces for defects and confirm conformance to all quality standards before release.
• Perform routine maintenance and care on lathes and related shop equipment to keep everything running reliably.
• Troubleshoot machine or tooling issues as they arise and resolve them promptly.
• Uphold safety procedures and keep the work area orderly, clean, and hazard‑free.
• Assist with additional shop tasks and related duties as assigned.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience operating lathes in a manufacturing setting.
• Proficiency reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Hands‑on skill using precision measuring tools to verify part accuracy.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a track record of producing high‑quality work.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities to diagnose and correct equipment issues.
• Solid understanding of safety practices with the discipline to maintain a safe environment.
