Technology Specialist

Primary Location:3452 Spur 399, McKinney, Texas, 75069We are searching for candidates that meet the required qualifications and experience and are able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.Job Summary:Provide technical support, services and training to faculty, staff, students and outside organizations for software, hardware, peripherals and audio-visual equipment. Assist with technology projects in assigned areas.Required Qualifications:Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide technical support and services to the college community ensuring all classes, equipment and community events (both on and off Collin College campuses) run efficiently.Assist students, faculty, staff and vendors with all computer, Internet, wireless access, and media issues. Troubleshoot hardware, software and audio-visual problems.Facilitate conference center/campus events by setting up, running, and tearing down audio-visual equipment.Setup, install, image and maintain all associated equipment in assigned areas of responsibility.Monitor emerging technologies, develop specifications and make recommendations for necessary acquisitions of new equipment.Integrate new technologies into existing structure of classrooms, offices and conference centers.Maintain accurate records on software, hardware, equipment utilization and problems.Maintain familiarity with and ensure compliance with district policies and Technology Services standard operating procedures to ensure copyright laws are not violated.Support all college-owned computers, including installation, imaging, and troubleshooting in accordance with college standards.Document all support requests accurately in the ticketing system and ensure timely updates throughout the resolution processParticipate in district-wide committees as assignedRemediate security threats reported by the Security Department.Document and maintain accurate inventory and active directory containers.Create and update knowledge base articles.Assist with networking and telecommunications upon request.Follow standards, rules, regulations and orders for electrical and mechanical equipment at all times.Supplemental FunctionsPerform all duties and maintain all standards in accordance with college policies, procedures and Core Values.Perform other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of multiple types of audio -visual equipment to include: control systems, audio systems, audio/video conferencing, video streaming and recording, distance learning systems, projectors, media formats, etc.Knowledge of institutional standard computer software and hardwareKnowledge of large event multimedia supportKnowledge of department and college policies and proceduresComputer and applicable software skillsAudio-visual skillsTroubleshooting skillsDocumentation skillsInterpersonal skillsCustomer Service skillsAbility to communicate effectively, both orally and in writingAbility to maintain professional manner when interacting with faculty, students, staff and outside organizations.Ability to identify and resolve technical issues in a timely mannerAbility to repair and maintain computers, media equipment, and associated management control softwareAbility to write and utilize technical literatureAbility to travel to and between campuses throughout the district to provide technical support and attend meetingsAbility to adhere to and enforce the policies, protocols and guidelines set by the departmentPhysical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical EffortMedium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
