Material Project Manager - Millennium Space Systems

We are seeking a Material Project Manager (MPM) who will support material strategies with the Program Management Office and Manufacturing Organization, maintain cost and schedule lead times, identify and mitigate program risks, and report and track all material activities. This onsite role is in El Segundo, California. The internal job title is Business Ops Specialist and the position is level 3. Responsibilities Support Control Account Management (CAM) activities for material, including baseline schedule and cost planning, IMS status, Estimates to Complete (ETC), Estimates at Complete (EAC), and variance reporting. Identify material-related risks and opportunities, developing mitigation plans. Aggregate all engineering material requirements, determine procurement strategy during design maturation, and translate into Material Resource Planning (MRP) requirements. Assist engineering with design trade studies to decide make/buy strategies, supplier sourcing, and material modifications to meet requirements, cost, and schedule goals. Analyze material requirements to produce program summaries, including line of balance, issue identification, and other relevant metrics. Partner with procurement to engage the supply base, assessing costs, lead times, and strategies to meet program requirements. Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure parts are designed for manufacturing and prevent downstream build issues. Execute processes and systems for tracking and reporting material metrics such as lead times, lines of balance, and supplier performance. Support continuous‑improvement initiatives to enhance material procurement processes, streamline workflows, and optimize supply‑chain efficiency. Basic Qualifications U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance (interim and/or final) required. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in material management, procurement, manufacturing, or supply‑chain management. Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in supply‑chain management, logistics, business administration, or related field. Knowledge of material planning principles and supply‑chain best practices. Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Experience leading cross‑functional teams and driving results. Analytical mindset for interpreting data, identifying trends, and making data‑driven decisions. DoD or government experience. Experience in design‑development programs. Experience on programs with EVMS requirements. Comfort operating in ambiguous environments. Self‑starter capable of supporting organizational and program objectives, and interfacing at all levels of internal management and supplier management. Pay range for Level 3: $101,150 – $148,750.
