Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Holding Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Hours (07:00 - 19:30) Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Emergency Department License: Valid California RN Licensure Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: - Ability to float to Medical/Surgical/Telemetry when not utilized in Emergency Holding - Understanding of evidence-based practice - Knowledge of pathophysiology and pharmacological implications - Strong documentation skills - Competence in performing clinical procedures such as IV starts, Foley catheter placement, and dressing changes - Effective patient and family education Description: The role involves working in the Emergency Department Holding area. You will be required to float to Medical/Surgical/Telemetry when not utilized in the Emergency Holding. The RN must demonstrate an understanding of evidence-based practice. Knowledge of pathophysiology and pharmacological implications is essential. Accurate and thorough documentation of assessments is required. You will perform clinical procedures such as IV starts, Foley catheter placements, and dressing changes. Effective patient and family education must be provided. You will meet standards in the use of telemonitoring, IV, and safe medication administration. Recognizing changes in the patient's condition is critical. You must report errors and daily near misses. Acting as a patient advocate is an important responsibility. You must work independently and as part of a team. The ability to accept constructive feedback is necessary. Maintaining a professional appearance is expected. Completing tasks within the designated timeframe is required. Taking initiative and conducting necessary follow-up is essential. Weekend rotation is required, but there is no on-call requirement. Your role includes managing various emergency situations and patient assessments. You will be involved in patient care for diverse age groups including infants, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. The department has a daily census of 120 visits and operates with 36 beds in a total of 32 rooms. Your responsibilities encompass a variety of emergency medical conditions and situations.
