Journeyman Electrician

B&I Contractors, Inc., a five‑time recipient of the Great Place to Work certification, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Electrical Journeyman to join our dynamic and expanding team. About the Role The Electrical Journeyman is responsible for the layout and installation of electrical systems and related equipment. Work must be completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with design specifications, building codes, and company standards. This role ensures quality workmanship, provides instruction to trainees or apprentices, and contributes to efficient and safe completion of assigned projects. Essential Duties Interpret plans, specifications, and work instructions to complete assigned installations or assemblies. Install electrical equipment (panels, lighting, generators, etc.), conduit, wiring, and assemblies. Perform fabrication, layout, installation, repair, or maintenance of piping systems and equipment. Work collaboratively with general contractors and other trades. Ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and company procedures. Provide instruction, training, and guidance to trainees or apprentices to promote safe work practices and skill development. Maintain tools, materials, and work areas in an organized, safe, and serviceable condition. Minimum Requirements Minimum of 5 years commercial electrical experience on healthcare projects. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and project documents. Strong understanding of electrical systems and applicable codes. Proficient in trade math. Proficient in the safe and proper use of hand and power tools. Strong understanding of job site safety standards and commitment to following all company safety policies. Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills with effective communication abilities. Knowledge of multiple types of conduit and wiring systems. Knowledge of lighting and lighting controls. Knowledge of switchgear, panel, transformer, ATS, and generator installation. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. OSHA 10 certification. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and perform tasks involving lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying. Manual material handling must be performed in accordance with OSHA safety standards and company policies to minimize risk of injury. Tools Tool list will be provided.
