About the Job

This position serves in the Facilities unit within Housing and Residential Life (HRL) and provides support for 12 residential buildings. The Facilities Specialist assists the Director of Housing Facilities and the Facilities Support Manager with monitoring the service level agreement between Facilities Management and Housing and Residential Life; assists with the evaluation and distribution of all HRL furniture, fixtures and equipment related to the Bailey Hall and Bailey Dining closure; and assists with a number of facilities-related projects. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Director of Housing Facilities.

Location and Work Environment

• Work is typically performed inside, but occasionally, will need to go outside or into confined spaces. Work requires significant mobility and interaction within multiple building locations on a daily basis.
• This is a temporary position and candidates can only work 67 days per calendar year.

Work Schedule

• M-F 8hr shift between 7:00am and 4:30pm

Primary Responsibilities

• Coordinates the assessment of the condition and future destination of HRL furniture, fixtures, and equipment in Bailey Hall.
• Participates in the HRL Bailey Decommissioning planning team
• Collaborates with Contract Administration team members regarding Bailey Dining decommissioning.
• Conducts regular building walkthroughs to assess existing conditions and perform custodial and maintenance inspections to ensure expectations of the service level agreement are met.
• Creates and maintains records pertaining to furniture, fixtures and equipment; records changes for lost, stolen, damaged, and destroyed assets, as well as surplus sales
• Interacts with the University Capital Equipment Manager to ensure assets are accounted for and reported according to policy; assures completion and submission of the annual asset inventory for furniture, fixtures and equipment; and rectifies or provides documentation for variances

Collaboration and Administrative Support

• Collaborate with residence hall management teams, Hall Operations, Contracts, Assignments & Billing, Residential Life, Facilities Management, Conference & Event Services, and other HRL partners.
• Meet regularly with the Director of Housing Facilities and the Assistant Director of Housing Properties.
• Collaborate with Housing Facilities staff on projects and operational initiatives.
• Participate in departmental meetings and training as appropriate.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• Operational or administrative experience
• Experience working with computers.
• Experience providing customer service.
• Strong communication skills and ability to correspond effectively.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
