Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Night Shift (3x12 Hours, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit with a primary focus on stroke, neurosurgery, epilepsy, traumatic and non-traumatic subdural hematomas, and other neurological diagnoses
• Perform IV starts and continuous telemetry monitoring, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Utilize unit systems including EPIC, PYXIS, and SBAR for documentation and medication management
• Float as required to other Medical Surgical / Telemetry areas, which may include COVID care units
• Work every other weekend as required by unit scheduling
• Adhere to preferred scheduling practices and make up any called-off shifts within the same week or at the end of the contract

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience with at least 1 year of direct Medical Surgical experience
• Must have a minimum of 2 successfully completed travel contracts (first-time travelers will not be accepted)
• Demonstrated experience with IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Medical Surgical Neuro experience required
• Active BCLS certification required
• NIH / NIHSS certification required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Active ACLS certification preferred
• Prior experience in a neuro-focused Medical Surgical or Telemetry setting
