2026-2027 Office Assistant I - Front Office Starting Date: Immediately Job Description Primary Purpose: Under direct supervision provides reception and clerical assistance for the effective operation of the campus office. Minimum Qualifications Education/Certification High school diploma or GED (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or Regional Accrediting Agency) Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non‑refundable fee (approximately $50) paid by employee. Required Experience One (1) year clerical experience in office setting Knowledge/Skills Proficient keyboarding skills Effective organization, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Ability to operate multi‑line phone system Major Responsibilities and Duties (The following statements describe the general purpose and responsibilities assigned and should not be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills, efforts, or working conditions that may be assigned or skills that may be required.) Rule §247.1 Purpose and Scope; Definitions Rule §247.2 Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators Organization Climate Greets and directs campus visitors Communication and Community Relations Receives and directs incoming calls, takes reliable messages, and routes to appropriate staff. Assists parents in checking students in and out of school. Organization Management Receives, sorts, and distributes mail, messages, documents, and other deliveries Assists with receipt and distribution of student materials, including homework requests Maintains visitor log and issues visitor passes Assists with preparation of materials for mailing, including preparing labels, stuffing envelopes, etc. Maintains computerized files using personal computer, including reports, employee roster, and mailing lists Professional Growth and Development Participates in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned Qualities of Effective Office Assistants Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job. Maintains confidentiality of information. Corrects unsafe conditions in work area and reports any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately. Complies with District and Campus policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws and regulations. Complies with the standards of conduct set out in Board Policy DH (Legal) and (Local) and with any other policies, regulations, and guidelines that impose duties, requirements, and standards. Supervisory Responsibilities None Equipment Multi‑line phone system, computer, printer, copier, calculator, telephone, fax machine, shredder, and other equipment applicable to the position.
