Description

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist for a hospital general surgery unit, offering a 4-day, 10-hour day shift schedule.

Details

• Hospital general surgery unit (Surg General)
• 4 days per week, 10-hour day shifts (6:30 AM - 4:30 PM)
• Weekend and on-call requirements apply
• Uses EPIC EMR system

Requirements

• BLS certification via AHA required
• Certified Surgical Technologist credential or LVN/LPN license required (license required if applicable)
• CST certification required within 180 days of graduation if not already LVN/LPN licensed
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or accredited LVN/LPN program required
• 2+ years of experience preferred
• Proficiency scrubbing in 3 specialty areas (e.g., Transplants, Open Heart, Urology, Neurology, Titanium Rib, Robotics) highly preferred

Additional Information

• Assist in preparing and caring for pre-operative patients, including skin prep and positioning for surgery
• Maintain aseptic technique and actively monitor for breaches in sterile protocol
• Transport patients to and from the Operating Room suite
• Establish and maintain the sterile field, pass instruments and sutures to the physician
• Use and maintain physician preference cards when pulling cases and setting up the OR
• Work collaboratively as part of the surgical care team under the direction of a professional nurse
• Maintain proper traffic control, dress code, and OR sanitation standards
• Adhere to Universal Barrier Precautions for patient and personal safety
• Adapt care methods to meet population-specific and developmental needs of patients served
• Candidates must be separated from any CHRISTUS facility for at least 6 months prior to starting a new travel assignment there
