Certified Hand Therapist

About the Job MedStar Health is looking for a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) to join our team at Therapy - Pasadena . We are looking for a licensed CHT with professional competency as a general practitioner in occupational or physical therapy, demonstrated independent use of varied evaluation and treatment approaches, initiative in following through with all procedures and policies, and effective communication skills. As an Occupational / Physical Therapist with the Certified Hand Therapist credential, you will provide therapeutic interventions to prevent dysfunction, restore function, and/or reverse the progression of pathology of the upper limb (hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder) to enhance an individual's ability to perform tasks and participate fully in daily life situations. Using specialized skills in assessment, planning, and treatments, CHTs assist with improving upper limb function, alleviating pain, and preventing disabilities by planning and administering medically prescribed therapy as outlined by treatment plan and in accordance with practice guidelines. A comprehensive knowledge of the structure of the upper limb is required. As requested, CHTs may participate in program planning and protocol development, and assist the team in meeting established goals. Primary Duties Provide evaluation services including review of pertinent historical information, performance of specific assessments, and determination of recommendations and documentation of results. Explain evaluation findings and treatment plan to patient and family and incorporate patient and family in the goal setting. Demonstrate proficiency in implementation of treatment protocols based on evaluation findings and the patient's presentation and the evolving health care environment. Consult with other healthcare professionals as indicated. Recognize and document changes in patient's condition requiring modification of the plan of care and/or the need for medical/rehabilitation consultation. Complete appropriate discharge planning and follow-up care. Accurately and timely document and charge for patient care activities considering our evolving health care environment, painting a clear picture of the patient's course of care including focused initial evaluation/plan of care that establishes baseline and goals, legible daily encounter notes, interim progress summaries, and discharge evaluation. Demonstrate effective time management and meet productivity expectations. Manage an accurate schedule. Demonstrate a professional commitment to provide frictionless patient access to care through flexibility, adaptability, creativity, and actions/behaviors that display empathy in our patient consumer driven environment. Takes initiative in pursuing and directing continuing education for professional growth and competency for self and organization. Serves as a clinical instructor to assigned students. Qualifications Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy / Physical Therapy, or High School Diploma or GED of an accredited school of Occupational/Physical Therapy. 3 years of experience as an occupational physical therapist with 4,000 hours (about 5 and a half months) or more in direct practice in hand therapy. Maryland, District of Columbia, or Virginia license required as deemed necessary for your specific location(s). Successful completion of the CHT (Certified Hand Therapist) exam as administered by the HTCC. Basic Life Support (BLS). Every CHT is required to demonstrate continued professional development and competency by recertifying every five years. This position has a hiring range of USD 35.68 - USD 64.71 /hr. #J-18808-Ljbffr
