Key Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid Rhode Island Special Education teaching license, mild-moderate or severe
• Previous experience with developmental disabilities preferred
• Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Excellent communication skills for working collaboratively with assistants, families, and school staff
• Adaptable, patient, and passionate about supporting diverse learners
• Eager to participate in considerable training and ongoing professional development

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide instruction and support to students with developmental disabilities in a classroom setting for grades 3-4
• Develop and modify lesson plans to meet each student’s unique needs and learning goals
• Collaborate with classroom aides in a 1:3 ratio to foster a positive learning environment
• Monitor and document student progress; adapt strategies as needed
• Participate in training sessions and implement best practices as provided by the school
• Communicate regularly with parents, caregivers, and educational teams

This contract position averages 37.5 hours per week throughout the 26/27 school year, with a single school assignment—offering stability and the ability to build strong student relationships.
