Anesthesia Technician

The Anesthesia Technologist provides critical support in the preparation, maintenance, and operation of anesthesia equipment for patients undergoing anesthesia. This role involves assisting anesthesiologists and other clinicians during procedures, ensuring equipment functionality, and supporting advanced surgical cases. The technologist participates in training programs and provides on-call coverage to maintain high standards of anesthesia care. Responsibilities:

• Assist in patient care during anesthesia including equipment preparation, monitor placement, and medication setup.
• Communicate continuously with anesthesiologists, residents, CRNAs, and technologists to meet clinical needs.
• Assist with difficult intubations and central line catheter placements.
• Operate the cell-saver machine and participate in complex surgical cases such as cardiac, liver transplant, vascular, thoracic, and trauma surgeries.
• Ensure anesthesia equipment is in good working order and complete preventive maintenance.
• Set up and troubleshoot advanced anesthesia equipment including infusion pumps, nerve stimulators, defibrillators, and transport monitors.
• Assist in developing and implementing in-service training programs for anesthesia technologists.
• Set up operating rooms and carts between cases and support out-of-OR anesthesia procedures.
• Provide backup support to the shift supervisor as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors and management.

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum two years of experience as an Anesthesia Technologist.

• Four-year college education with related technical training, or two-year college education with technical training and two years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certification by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists Registry or other nationally recognized certifying body.

• On-call and callback responsibilities including holidays and weekends as per unit needs.
• Work involves supporting advanced surgical cases and out-of-operating room anesthesia procedures.
• Backup coverage for shift supervisor during absences.

• Day shift schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
• On-call and callback duties as required by unit staffing needs.
