The Employee and Labor Relations Manager serve as a key resource for leading and managing employee relations and labor relations matters across the organization. This role is responsible for leading investigations, ensuring compliance with employment laws, fostering a positive work environment, and supporting fair and consistent application of company policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and analytical skills, a detailed-oriented approach to investigations, and a deep understanding of labor and employment laws and employee relations best practices.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Labor and Employee Relations Management – 45%

• Interpret and apply collective bargaining agreements.
• Partner with HR to resolve grievances and support arbitration preparation.
• Collaborate with HR leadership on labor/employee-related issues.
• Provide guidance to HR on performance management, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions.
• Maintain documentation and case records for employee relations matters.

Investigations – 25%

• Develop, lead, and conduct investigations into employee concerns, ensuring timely and fair resolution.
• Partner with HR to refine documentation standards, templates, and investigation workflows.

Compliance & Policy Review – 15%

• Partner with AGC Employment & Litigation to ensure company policies and practices adhere to federal, state, and local employment laws.
• Develop, review, and support compliant implementations of HR policies and procedures.
• Monitor legal changes impacting employee and labor relations.

Training & Education – 10%

• Support development and delivery of training sessions to HR department on employee/labor relations and investigation topics.

Reporting & Analytics – 5%

• Track and analyze employee relations trends and metrics.
• Prepare reports for Legal to support strategic decision-making.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• JD degree preferred
• SHRM-SCP preferred
• 3 – 5 years of experience in employee and/or labor relations, preferably in a unionized environment.
• Strong knowledge of employment laws (e.g., FMLA, ADA, FLSA, Title VII, NLRA (CA specific – preferred)).
• 3 – 5 years of experience in workplace investigations (in-house environment a plus).
• Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Strong mediation and conflict-resolution skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage high-pressure and complex situations with empathy and creativity.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

TRAVEL REQUIRED

This job requires 35% - 50% travel to our manufacturing locations in the U.S.

WORK STATUS & LOCATION

Northern California Hybrid (candidates must be able to work from our Stockton location at least 3 days a week)

PAY
$100,900 - $171,500 / year
