Environmental Outreach Specialist - Starting Salary Range $65,000 - $75,000 DOE/DOQ The HRPDC is seeking applicants for a full-time Environmental Outreach Specialist. As part of the Environmental Education team, the successful candidate will support the development, coordination and promotion of regional environmental education and outreach initiatives across Hampton Roads. The Environmental Outreach Specialist assists with community engagement, communications, program administration, and event coordination that advance regional environmental awareness and behavior-change campaigns. The role works closely with internal program staff, local government partners, consultants, and community stakeholders to help deliver effective and engaging public outreach programs. Resilience Outreach Specialist - Starting Salary $65,000 - $75,000 DOE/DOQ The Hampton Roads Planning District Commission (HRPDC) is seeking a candidate for the position of Resilience Outreach Specialist. The Resilience Outreach Specialist has knowledge of climate adaptation and coastal management issues and topics with proficiency in public engagement to support the HRPDC Coastal Resiliency Program in the areas of public outreach, education, and training on coastal resilience, floodplain management, and related issues. The Coastal Resiliency Program identifies and implements regional priorities for research, analysis, and policy development on issues related to resiliency and climate adaptation to support local government planning and implementation efforts. The Resilience Outreach Specialist will coordinate efforts related to flood insurance promotion and flood risk education and outreach and will be responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing new resilience-related activities and programs. Applicants must be able to develop and manage a comprehensive outreach and engagement program, including audience identification, development of outreach materials (including digital and print media), stakeholder and partner engagement, and program management.
