Maintenance Worker / HVAC Electrical – Operations, SDCCD To support the educational mission of the San Diego Community College District, the Facilities Services Unit seeks a Maintenance Worker / HVAC Electrical who will maintain HVAC and electrical systems across campus. The position works Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and may be transferred to any site at the Chancellor’s option. New employees begin at Step D ($5,431.85 per month). Salary negotiation is not allowed. Key Responsibilities Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC and electrical equipment. Read and interpret sketches, drawings, blueprints, and manuals. Maintain logs, reports, and records of all work performed. Operate tools and equipment safely and efficiently. Collaborate with the Facilities team to support campus operations. Desired Qualifications At least 3 years of experience in building construction or maintenance trades, including at least 1 year of apprentice-level HVAC or electrical repair experience. Knowledge of HVAC equipment, refrigeration, electrical systems, energy management controls, and safe work practices. Proficiency with tools, methods, and equipment to maintain, test, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC and electrical systems. Ability to work independently with little direction. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a diverse educational environment. Applicants with foreign degrees must have coursework evaluated by NACES or ACEI and submit the evaluation. Additional Requirements Official college transcripts. Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam (renewed every 4 years). Live Scan fingerprinting (clearance required before first day). Proof of eligibility to work in the United States (I‑9). Attendance at a new‑hire processing appointment at the District Administrative Offices.
