Fund Accountant

A growing and well-established financial service firm, is seeking a Fund Accountant to join its Chicago-based finance team. This role offers excellent exposure to private investment structures, fund operations, financial reporting, and collaboration with investment professionals and external service providers. Key Responsibilities Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual fund financial statements. Maintain fund general ledgers and record investment transactions, including purchases, sales, income, and expenses. Calculate investor allocations, capital activity, management fees, and carried interest. Assist with NAV calculations and fund performance reporting. Coordinate quarterly and annual reporting deliverables with fund administrators, auditors, and tax professionals. Support the audit process by preparing schedules and responding to auditor requests. Reconcile cash, investment activity, and capital accounts. Monitor compliance with fund governing documents and partnership agreements. Assist with investor reporting and ad hoc requests from senior management. Contribute to process improvement initiatives and operational efficiencies. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably within fund accounting, public accounting, asset management, private equity, hedge funds, or alternative investments. Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. Experience with investment partnerships, fund structures, or alternative asset classes is a plus. CPA designation or CPA track is preferred. Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with accounting or portfolio management systems. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
