About the Organization The Hyannisport Club is a private member‑owned club founded in 1897. It has 493 members, and members may bring guests. The golf course offers sweeping views of Nantucket Sound; every hole has a water view. The club hosts two well‑known tournaments, The Seagulls and the Cape Cod Amateur. The clubhouse features two dining spaces that overlook the ocean with elegant sunsets. The golf course is a certified Audubon Society site with over 100 different species of birds. The club maintains an established scholarship fund for seasoned staff members. Job Description Position: Pastry Chef Department: Culinary Employment Category: Seasonal FLSA Status: Non‑exempt Requirement: MS Word proficiency Reports To: Executive Chef Supervises: No supervisory duties Job Summary The Pastry Chef at the Hyannisport Club must be professional, positive, polite, and possess excellent communication skills. The chef maintains a neat, professional appearance and observes personal cleanliness rules. Responsibilities include all pastry and dessert production for the club’s dining rooms and functions. Duties also encompass developing pastry‑related recipes, ingredient purchase specifications, and items for club events such as buffets and receptions. The chef creates weekly dessert menus for both bistro and fine‑dining outlets, while upholding the highest food quality and sanitation standards. Job Duties Key Accountabilities Operational Management The Pastry Chef designs and produces weekly dessert menus. Duties include accepting and storing deliveries, which may require lifting cases of food and service products. The chef plans, prepares, and decorates special pastry items, develops bake‑shop recipes and techniques, and produces baked items for the snack‑bar operation. Responsibilities also include consulting with the Executive Chef on banquet event orders, planning pastry aspects of club events and private banquets, attending regular meetings with management, requisitioning all required products and supplies, overseeing inventory, controlling food and supply waste, and ensuring strict sanitation and cleanliness standards. The chef evaluates bake‑shop products to maintain consistent quality. Staff Management Advises and demonstrates to culinary staff the reproduction of plated desserts, and trains and supervises any other personnel working in the bake shop. Position Requirements Culinary School preferred. Dessert and pastry experience required. MS Word proficiency required. Location: Hyannisport Club We are an equal employment opportunity employer.
